Sow Healthy Garden
Students and seniors growing together

As our first community project, we are teaming up with Comal ISD and others to bring 4th and 5th graders together with seniors to grow healthy foods. Together, they will cultivate, harvest, cook, bake and can some of what is grown. The goal? To mutually benefit two generations by providing positive role models and promoting movement, nutrition and healthy lifestyles for all involved.
- Sow Healthy & Comal I.S.D. intergenerational garden program
- Interactive cooking and nutrition classes
- Certified organic produce sold at local farmers markets
Letters from Cultivores
Students who participate in Sow Healthy are called “cultivores.” Just as omnivores eat meat and herbivores eat plants, cultivores are those who eat what they cultivate, or grow. Check out these handwritten letters that our cultivores have written about how much they dig Sow Healthy.

Sow healthy
I think the sow healthy garden is good for children because it shows the life of plants and food we eat. That is why I think sow healthy is important for children!!

Sow Healthy is fun because it helps us learn more about the food we eat by letting us grow and plant it. I think Sow Healthy makes us smarter food choice wise and knowledge wise. Sow Healthy is awesome and when it’s time to go to Sow Healthy I can’t wait to get on the bus!!! Thanks for making us Show Healthy cultivores!!!
